ABOUT NUANCE THEATRE CO.

'nu·ance' (n(y)ōō,äns) Expression or appreciation of delicate shades of meaning, feeling, or tone: a subtle quality.

With an innate sensitivity for the human condition and an ear to the pulse of the world today, Nuance Theatre Co. endeavors to spark new insight into well-loved works, inspiring curiosity, illuminating humanity, and igniting the minds and hearts of its audiences.

Strong ensemble acting and innovative, ambitious staging marks Nuance's growing contribution in this effort; striving to create a world in which the life of the play, in all its subtlety and truth, can emerge — whether seeing it rain on stage (Condemned), a depression-era union warehouse (Waiting for Lefty), a 1930’s-style tenement apartment (Awake and Sing!), the stone walls of Elsinore Castle complete with a draw bridge and ghost (Hamlet), the features and structure of a typical Midwest back porch (Proof) and most recently the impeccable and intimate home of the Corbetts (Rabbit Hole) .

Along with its professional standing, Nuance Theatre Co. in association with John DeSotelle Studio, also provides a forum where actors in training can apply their craft to practical experiences alongside other veteran and professional actors through full theatrical productions and multiple stage and festival performance opportunities. Together both companies believe in fostering and launching young, talented actors, directors, designers, technicians, playwrights and emerging artists who share a love of making theatre and are wholeheartedly devoted to collaboration, and creating a thriving community of artistic creators within what is, too often, a solitary occupation.

Always encouraging theater-goers to look beyond Broadway and consider the remarkable efforts and talents of the small independent theatrical companies, Nuance consistently works to bring tremendous artistic experiences and the sensation of close-up theater to an intimate stage.

In today's world, we're often isolated by the same technology which claims to "connect" us...that's why we at Nuance believe that there is more than ever to be gained in live theatre, and all of its raw, unfiltered humanity, its immediacy and its beautiful imperfections. Our greatest treasure is our imagination, our sincerest connection is storytelling...and today, there is true bravery in simply stepping into a theatre, and giving yourself over to whatever happens on its stage, heart and all!

We thank you and deeply appreciate your support.

Your patronage will keep our door always open for those with a story to tell.

See you at the theatre!
